Concurrent: A Collaboration with Storm Print City
Concurrent is a collaborative art project between Chicago-based artists Russell Muits (Storm Print City) and Chai Wolfman, celebrating the intricate and beautiful ways we are all interconnected. Drawing from the diverse elements of Chicago's infrastructure, natural landscapes, and vibrant communities, our work is a testament to the unity and flow that bind us together.
Russ Muits, known for his unique prints of storm covers from around the world, brings to this project a deep appreciation for the unseen networks beneath our feet. His work captures the intricate designs of urban infrastructure, highlighting the often-overlooked beauty and essential connectivity of our city's foundation.
Chai Wolfman, known for her colorful and dynamic artworks using paint and thread, infuses the project with organic vibrancy. She draws inspiration from the midwestern landscape, architectural shapes, and the waves of Lake Michigan. Other motifs such as cityscapes, light strings, roots, and trees all add layers of meaning.
Together, their collaboration intertwines these elements, creating a visual narrative that spans from city streets to skyscrapers, from the depths of the river to the expanse of the sky. At a time when our culture is polarized in many ways, this project focuses on the themes of connectivity and community - joyful reminders that we’re all in this together.
